BECOME A TRUSTEE FOR ACTIVE8

Join us as a Trustee at Active8

We’re looking for three volunteer Trustees who have experience in either Health and Safety, LGBTQIA+ or Mental Health/ Counselling to join our friendly and passionate board. Your insights will help shape our decisions, ensuring we continue to provide the best support for our community.

Our Trustees play a vital role in making sure that Active8 achieves its core purpose.

  • They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity.
  • They ensure that the charity has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.
  • Just as importantly, they support the CEO to enable Active8 to grow and thrive.

What will you do as a Trustee?

  • Help guide Active8’s purpose and goals, using your personal experience to inform our work.
  • Help review and approve plans, budgets, and policies, making sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in health and safety, LGBTQIA+ or Mental Health/Counselling.
  • Brings enthusiasm, commitment, and fresh ideas to the role.
  • Cares about fairness, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Is willing to learn, contribute, and work as part of a team.
  • Cares about Active8’s mission and values.

What’s involved?

  • Six Board meetings a year (held in person or online via Teams).
  • One Annual Strategy Day.
  • Occasional working groups.

You don’t need previous experience as a Trustee—we will provide training and support to help you succeed.

What’s in it for you?

Make a difference to young people who have a disability and require support in Cornwall, gain valuable experience, and help shape the future of our charity.

Expressions of interest

Our Trustees will meet up with any interested applicants for a friendly chat over coffee before inviting the candidate to observe a Board Meeting in action.
