We are Active8

Active8 is a small Cornish charity which aims to empower and motivate young people with physical disabilities to become autonomous. Active8 develops their skills, confidence, support structures and aspirations. Active8 supports young people to challenge the status quo and to be a catalyst for improvement in their own and communities' quality of life.

Active8 was founded in 1990 by Liz Olive, when a young man with Muscular Dystrophy wanted to get toegether with other young people going through similar experiences. Under Liz's direction the charity grew into the organisation it is today.
Active8 is a project based charity, to get involved young people can join one of our projects. Some projects are time limited whilst others are a continuous rolling programme. You can find out about our projects on the project pages.
Acceler8 is the first project young people usually join at 15 and is a 2 year programme delivered through monthly residential weekends. Click here to visit the project page: Acceler8 Project.
After8 is for over 18's or those who have completed the Acceler8 Project. Visit the After8 page for more info.
Motive8 is a project that support young people to; set and achieve goals, gain independence skills, gain life skills and experience, move toward independent living and gain employment. Visit the Motive8 page for more info.

Don't wait until 15 to get in touch with us, we run a waiting list system and are happy to add names to the waiting list at any age, and it's far too good to miss! Contact us to say if you want to know more about it.
