After8 is a group of fun and dynamic young adults with physical disabilities, supported by volunteers to socialise and have fun.  At After8 we push boundaries, challenge ourselves and meet new people. We support each other, conquer our fears and grow in confidence. The After8s meet about twice a month all over Cornwall, occasionally out of county. After8 members are supported to use public transport and sometimes club together for minibus transport.

“After8 has inspired me to try new things and not be defeated at the first hurdle.”

Many of us have been involved in previous Acceler8 groups: but other people living in Cornwall are welcome to join. To join, use the contact page on this site.

There are social events and activities, andSports 2015 (23) much more.  After8 has its own youth worker, Samm Dennis.  There  are opportunities to speak out about local needs and services, a  whole year's programme of activities, and other things in response to members' ideas.

In 2014 several young people joined the tall ship 'Tenacious' at Falmouth and sailed as part of the crew for the 9-day voyage from there to London. They had been saving and fundraising all summer to do this. One of them described it as "The most independent week of my life." Photos and the video are on this site.

In 2011 and 2013 there was a chance to jump out of an aeroplane to raise money for Active8 and After8 activities! Twice now, 6 people have done their expedition for DofE Gold award by narrowboat, and this year 8 went to V Festival. Next year there will be other adventures: you could be part of them, as a participant or as a volunteer. There is a Facebook page to keep in touch with forthcoming events: contact us to join this.
