How can I stay safe online?

Technology changes so fast that it can sometimes feel like a real challenge keeping up to date. It can also feel a little daunting keeping up to speed with how to stay safe in an ever growing cyber world. This page is here to give some helpful tips and suggest some links for further advice.

Active8 has a policy on Safe Technology Use which all staff, volunteers and members must agree to and follow. The policy contains several User agreements for these groups: Staff, Volunteers, Members under 18 and Members over 18, these must be signed by member, volunteers and staff upon joining Active8.

Some useful websites to go to for help

Got a problem? Need Advice? Feeling stressed or embarrassed about something? Kooth.com is a FREE, ANONYMOUS, CONFIDENTIAL website where young people can go for help. They offer free online support for young people. You can create your own login with an anonymous username, from there you can access online forums and speak to counsellors online (between 12 noon and 10pm Mon - Fri, and 6pm - 10pm @ weekends).

These resources have all be produced by other agencies and contain some great information, each leaflet shows who has made it with some organisations working in collaboration. These sources have all been produced and made avalible by the south west grid for learning.
