Motive8

Active8’s project, Motive8IMG 7329

Motive8 is a course in life skills for young adults with a physical disability. It’s to fill some of the gaps in their knowledge, get practice at things like travelling, managing money and cooking, and encourage each other to increase their independence. A lot of the learning is home-based, but with day and residential times together to build up skills and learn from other people.

If you are between 17 and 26 and think that's something you would find helpful, please contact us and say so; you can join if you want to. There is detailed information and a link to an application form below.

Motive8 is for young people with physical disabilities aged 17 and over. The programme is all about learning life skills and developing your independence. It will help you to develop skills that you will need for living independently, employment and volunteering. Motive8 is also a chance to socialise and be part of a group all aimed at achieving the same things.

Is it for me?

Motive8 has been developed for young people aged 17+ who have a physical disability. Unfortunately we will not be able to offer a place on the programme if you have a moderate or severe learning disability: but we can help you find organisations running a similar programme.

When is it?

Motiv8 will consist of one evening each month and several one to one sessions with a youth worker. There will also be a night's residential in various locations once a quarter. A group is meeting in Truro every month and another in Liskeard, joining together for residentials. See the events calendar for dates.

In addition to the programme you will receive one to one support in between sessions from Motiv8's youth worker. Ideally you will complete the whole programme: but it’s fine if you want to do just
the modules that are most of benefit to you, just let us know.

What’s the cost?

The programme is free and any activity or food cost will be covered. The cost of personal
care will not be covered, but we can support you to see if you are eligible for additional
direct payments or personal budgets. Transport cost may be covered but you need to discuss
that with us.

How do I join?

You will need to send in a referral form by email to sarah.active8@gmail.com

or by post to:
